Hello, everyone. I am "Dr. Pym" and this is my blog, The Henry Pym Compendium. This blog aims to showcase comic books that involve my favorite character in all of Marvel Comics: Henry "Hank" Pym. This little blog will have reviews and recaps of various stories that feature Pym, from Tales to Astonish #27 to whatever is out today. My reviews will probably involve jokes, usually very bad jokes, and I will aim to not only entertain the reader, but to critique these books, and to point out any interesting situations. My biggest goal however, is to change what is probably your misinformed opinion on Henry Pym. I feel that Pym has not only been treated like crap by various writers since the Jim Shooter era, but one moment ("The Slap" as you all may know it, and if you don't, we'll look at it, trust me,) in Pym's life has led to the incredibly unfair treatment that Pym has received throughout his run in various books.
This blog is only a testing ground for what soon may come. If you like what I'm writing, feel free to say so in the comments section. If you want to discuss anything about the books I take a look at, feel free to discuss those kinds of things in the comments section as well. Your feedback is probably the most important thing about this blog.
I cannot announce yet a set schedule for when every review will be released on here. As you know, reviews can take a LOT of time. So if anyone wants to contribute any sort of recap or review, they are allowed to do so. Drop me an e-mail at "doctorhankpym@REMOVETHISgmail.com". The "REMOVETHIS" was added so that I would not be spammed. I would certainly love to hear from you.
On the bottom of each blog post, you will see different labels. These labels are somewhat serious, and some are just comedic labels. Most labels will be talked about throughout the reviews, through scans and explanations. The following are most of the labels that I will be using, with explanations right after:
Hawkeye is a Douchebag - Hey, sometimes, Hawkeye is a bit of a douchebag.
Janet van Dyne - Well, duh. The Winsome Wasp!
Henry Pym - You'll probably be seeing this label a lot...
Yellowjacket - Probably Hank's longest lasting identity.
Giant-Man - My favorite of his identities... he should've had this one for longer.
Goliath - The identity of Hank when he was the LEADER of the group of Avengers!
Ant-Man - Probably his most famous identity.
Nonsensical Stories - Sometimes these stories are going to be completely ridiculous.
General Silliness - Random, stupid silliness that I find within these comic books...
Al Milgrom is a Horrible Artist - He is.
Poor Pop Culture References - When I make a bad joke (Which I always do,) it usually involves some form of obscure pop culture. Just warning you now.
Hank is a Clueless Putz - When it comes to Janet's flirting, Hank really was a clueless putz at some points. Dude, the fever is NOT making her delirious...
Dickery - Sometimes you'll find a major comic book dickhead. The Whirlwind comes to mind, Cap too (Sorry Cap fans!)
Stupid Comic Book Logic - This one should be pretty popular too.
Logic-less Pym Writing - A.K.A. 90's-Present.
Brian Michael Bendis - More commonly to be referred to as "You Know Who"
Scary Art - If someone looks really creepy, horribly drawn, or just looks very wrong in the face, you'll be seeing this label. Al Milgrom and this label go together like macaroni and cheese.
Horrible Hairstyles for Jan - We'll be seeing this label a lot in the 80's books, when Jan got that... ewww cut.
Stan "The Man" Lee - The coolest dude ever.
Bullpen Bulletins - I'm a big Marvel buff in general, so expect me to babble on about the Bullpen Bulletin in these books.
Interesting Letters - I'll find interesting letters from the books and showcase them here.
The Vision is AWESOME - Dude, haven't you heard? Vizh RULES it.
Story Time - Sometimes I won't have a book review as an update.
Hank ACTUALLY Makes a Move! - This happens like once every 43466454 books, but he really does sometimes.
Jan's Costume Changes More Than You and I Change Underwear - Seriously, does she have a whole room in her mansion dedicated to her costumes? Two whole rooms?
Superheros Getting Into Awkward Mishap - Speaks for itself.
Celebrity Cameos - Because yes, David Letterman really DID show up in the book.
